According to ESPN Gameday, he will not start the game, but will play at some point. Nice effort at punishment, NOT!

Quote:The charges came one day after coach Walt Harris said Rutherford violated team rules and would not be the opening-day starter Saturday for the Panthers.
``I have a great deal of respect for Rod Rutherford,'' Harris said Thursday. ``From the information we have, he has engaged in behavior that is contrary to those expectations, our team rules and the responsibilities he assumes as a leader.''
Rutherford is really going to learn his lesson: Break the rules, and you'll sit until we need you to run up the score.
Harris should be ashamed by this load of crap and the admonition of his role as teacher and coach.
Pitt is fast beoming one of my most hated BCS schools. This makes the March, 2002 tournament win all that sweeter.

I notice that after Pitt stumbled offensively for all of first quarter, Rutherford's learned his lesson. And I've learned mine about Walt Harris.
