Couldn't get your link to open :bang: A short version of adding schollys for football is that an equal number for women's sports must also be added...........or reduce schollys for existing men's sports. You can't give the roosters more than you give the hens 05-nono

I'd say a men's sport would get cut.

That's what  me about Title IX, that was not the intent of the law, to hurt men's sports. Programs are being cut when the intent was to add programs.

Hey the Title IX thing is actually one of the few things he has done that I supports, but let's NOT turn this into a political discussion.

It's no easy task. Find a women's sport that has 80+ scholarships. Football is always going to weigh down the male side. We can't afford to add sports... so the alternative is to cut.

Problem is what do you cut. Golf: not going to happen. Soccer: actually a valuable sport when it comes to conf affiliation. Swimming or Track: nope. Tennis....sure, but you only gain 7-9 schollys.

For decade upon decade colleges spent a lot of money on non-revenue men's sports and zip on women's sports.

It ain't fair when a school cuts a men's sport but its even less fair that the school never gave similar opportunities to women. It's not the fault of females that schools elected to spend resources the way they did.

My personal observation is that the typical school that cuts a men's sport to meet Title IX requirements is at the same time increasing spending on men's football and men's basketball. If the school believes that the best way to comply with the troublesome law regarding fairness is to cut a men's sport to fund a women's sport rather than freezing or reducing funding for the two biggies to fund a women's sport, I think most fans would opt to cut the men's sport.
