select ..................................... Orienne Greene , out of the University of Lousiana Lafayette.
Congrats Orienne Greene, i'm sure you will make your new team proud. Congrats to the University of Lousiana Lafayette for sending a well rounded player to the National Basketball Association. As we all know, its not something you see everyday in the Mid-Majors. And its much harder to do in Basketball, than it is Football.
Orienne Greene began to attract the attention of scouts when they noticed that he was a great defensive guard, who had length and was very versatile. Very athletic back up 2 guard for any roster that needed one and was quite the steal at 53. I'm kinda dissappointed the Lakers didn't scoop him up with their last draft selection, rather than Von Wafer  .
Tirus Wade came close, ashe was worked out by several teams including the Lakers. He was also a big, tall guard that many scouts took a close look at. Among his best talents, was his shooting and ability to play both guard positions. But aftrer he was evaluated, it turned out that his athletic ability was average and was inconsistent defensively. He went undrafted as a result, but look for him to grab a roster spot in the Summer Pro Leagues and hopefully be invited by a team for training camp. In hopes he can earn a spot on a team as a free agent.
Looking back at the Sunbelt Tourney, its no wonder ULL smoked everybody. They were very physical and had alot of power. MT may have had the best 8-man rotation and deepest roster, but wut good does a bench do, when you're starting five is always getting killed. Mike Dean is going to play for some semi-pro league ive never heard of and Steve Thomas more than likely has packed his bags for overseas, as he may have lacked the NBA skills to compete at the next level. Michael Cuffee? What does he plan on doing with his degree.
Props to ULL on their scouting efforts, player development and their coaching, its all paid off.
