ULM got a first place vote. Most likely from Dickey. Because it's not nice to vote for yourself.

I'm ready to see these two RBs of yours. If they live up to the hype, they'll just fly down the field (literally) over the heads of everyone, to touch two feet on the ground in the endzone.

I don't think that any one (or two) players(s) can live up to this hype.

Interest about Thomas as a true freshman last season.

Scored 17 TDs
10 of 17 TDs were on runs of 25 or more yards and only 5 were under 10 yards.
Of these 5 were 42 or more yards (70,58,57,48,42) and 5 were 25 to 33 yards (33,31,27,25,25).

70 yds vs Idaho
58 yds vs UL-Lafayette
57 Yds vs Colorado
48 yds vs Utah State
42 yds vs Baylor
33 yds vs New Mexico State
31 yds vs Idaho
27 yds vs Utah State
25 yds vs Colorado
25 yds vs Middle Tennessee

Pretty darn impressive, especially for a true freshman.

This year Dave Campbell's Texas Football rates Thomas as the best running back in Texas 10 1A colleges and the best sophomore player.

All these tidbits of info from Mr. Campbell's Texas book aren't interesting to me. There are other states that play football too. Texas isn't the only one. But I see your point. And I also see that fans in Texas seem to place too much weight on the sport. Exemplified by these behemoth HS stadiums. Am I mistaken in assuming that these are for an area of schools? Or are they for just one? If it's for just one, then it's silly.

Not true. In baseball, I know that Coach Robe at UL and the NMSU coach would always vote for their team. Their mentality is "If I don't think we can win the conference, then why play?"

Most likely, Coach Weatherbie voted for his squad.

The Texas "thang" was mentioned because the players are from 10 teams (2 more than the Sun Belt Conference) and from several conferences (Big XII, CUSA, WAC, MWC and Sun Belt). Because of size & population, the state does have the most 1A teams. Nice recognition for Jamario.

Don't know why you brought up Texas high school football, but FWIW you're entitle to your opinion 04-bow

I saw your point for referring to Mr. Campbell. And about HS, it's just been something I have wanted to know.

PS: Are those stadiums for districts? or for a single HS?

A little of both. Some schools still have their own stadiums; but in the large metroplex areas many are tied to the school district. Here in San Antonio we have 2 large school districts that each have shared stadiums for the 7-8 schools in each district (these are Div 5A programs). But we also have some smaller school districts where the individual schools still have their own.

What the hell are you talking about "living up to the hype" When you lead the nation w/ two different backs two years in a row, there is no hype,it's reality.

Texas HS football is the best.

Would like to see Texas HS champions play the Florida HS state champions. Then we would see who's the best.

Neither of those could hang with Evangel or John Curtis from Louisiana.

Idiotic statement,South Lake Carroll can beat anyone.

and you cant just put our 5A state champs(there are two divisions) against the florida team any given year, that year, the florida team may be better.

For sheer talent, and community involvment,Texas HS football is the best.

Please don't argue. :)

True, but we can't recruit like Evangel does. Heck, they recruit better than many colleges.
