excerpt:

...point guard Chelsia Lymon of Scott County High School in Georgetown, Ky., has committed to MTSU.

"I wasn't really that much involved after the coaching change (former MTSU coach left for Alabama in April), but when I saw coach Insell was the new coach I did get very interested," Lymon said. "I learned about him from watching Dateline by chance one night. I really liked his style, the way he cared for the players and the way he approaches basketball. That's the kind of coach I want to play for and when he called me I really knew Middle Tennessee was going to be the place for me."

And what a recruiting coup it is for Insell and the Lady Raiders.

Considered the No. 2 prospect overall and No. 1 point guard in the state of Kentucky, Lymon averaged 16 points and six assists last year and has already scored more than 1,900 points, dished out 680 assists, grabbed 611 rebounds and recorded 348 steals in her career.

"She's been our starting point guard since she was in eighth grade," said Scott County coach Steve Helton. "It's going to be awful tough to lose her, but she is going to a great place.

"The only advice I gave her was to go where you're going to be happy. Coach Insell has been loyal to her, and she's a loyal person, and I know she's excited about going to Middle Tennessee State. We're all about family here at Scott County, and now Middle Tennessee State is our extended family.

"And Middle Tennessee State is getting, in my opinion, the best point guard in the state of Kentucky. She does it all. She plays defense, she's strong, she can score and rebound. She hustles, and more than anything, she makes those around her better, which is a sign of a winner."

Lymon has been recruited by the likes of Louisville, Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, IUPUI and Memphis...
