Anestha Blakeney knocked down 16 points and hauled in eight rebounds as Elon outfought Radford 50-43 in Big South Conference action at Alumni Gym. Blakeney sank six of her eight attempts from the field and canned all four of her free throws as the Phoenix won for the seventh time in eight games and fifth in a row.

Elon (9-6, 4-1 Big South) has allowed 50 points just once during its current five-game winning streak. The Phoenix pulled out a 60-50 overtime victory at Coastal Carolina Monday night.

Radford (5-10, 1-4 Big South) failed to score from three-point land for the first time in 92 games. The last time that the Highlanders went a full game without connecting on a three-point shot was in a 61-49 loss at home to Denver on Dec. 9, 1999.

After back-to-back jumpers by Amanda Neby, Radford claimed a 14-8 lead with 11:30 to play in the first half. Ignited by 10 points from Holly Andrews, Elon went on a 24-8 run to give the Phoenix a 32-22 advantage with 12:45 remaining in the contest.

Capped by a pair of Neby free throws, a 7-2 spurt drew Radford within 34-29 with 9:02 to play, but the Highlanders would move no closer. A three-point bomb by Lisa Miller and a jumper by Andrews silenced the Radford rally and pushed the Phoenix edge to 39- 31 with 6:22 left.

Elon received solid contributions from Andrews (14 points), Courtney Nyborg (six rebounds), Michele Hamilton (six rebounds) and Jayme Chikos (six assists, four steals). The Highlanders were paced by Neby (game-high 18 points, game-high 10 rebounds) and Jesse Brunjak (10 points).

The Phoenix held advantages in rebounds (41-36), assists (13-8), turnovers (12-16) and steals (9-5). Radford outshot Elon from both the field (34.0 percent-32.3) and the charity stripe (90.0 percent-70.0).

Elon plays a nonconference contest at Morris Brown at 6 p.m. Monday while Radford hosts Birmingham-Southern at 7 p.m. that same night.
