Yeah, Kent is not making shots.
Plus 14 fouls in the first half doesn't help.

Thanks for asking! Shortly after I had my last radiation treatment, I tore my ACL and meniscus. I had surgery on my left knee on February 18 and am currently in rehab. Because I am on crutches and cannot have any weight on my left leg, I am pretty much confined to the house except when I go to rehab three times a week.
As far as my cancer goes, I appear to be cured. But needless to say, the last four months have not been fun. However, I find pleasure reading the posts on the MAC Board and occasionally writing my own thoughts from time to time.
Now you know why I spend so much time on the Board!

Yikes! Guess when it rains it pours. You and the Flashes have not had a great end of February. Hope things look up soon.

Here are the final individual stats.
CUTLEY 7 PTS 6 REBS 20 MIN.
EDWIN 11 PTS 5 REBS 17 MIN.
HAUT 13 PTS 4 REBS 35 MIN.
HAYNES 6 PTS 2 REBS 39 MIN.
EDWARDS 9 PTS 11 REBS 3BLK. 27 MIN.
BEDFORD 2 PTS 2 REBS 12 MIN.
JAKEWAY 8 PTS 3 REBS 31 MIN.
BROWN 0 PTS 0 REBS 2 MIN.
GATES 3 PTS 0 REBS 6 MIN.
JOHNSON 0 PTS 0 REBS 6 MIN.
HOWARD 0 PTS 1 REBS 5 MIN.
Unfortunately, you cannot say that Haut was too tired when he went 1-6 during the first half of the game. He finished 4-12 for the game and played 35 minutes. Not to pick on Eric but when he is not shooting well he becomes a liability on the team because he does not play defense very well.
Haynes shot poorly too going 2-9 but he is the point guard and his responsibility is to run the offense and should not be expected to score a lot of points. DeAndre plays a lot of minutes and usually provides the backcourt with consistent defense. As everyone knows, he leads the team in assists and steals.
Jakeway is an overachiever who plays with more heart than anyone else on the team. Today he scored 8 points going 3-4 but they all were in the first half. Because he had such a good first half and so many others didn

That was an ugly game for both teams. I hope late season fades do not become a characteristic of our team like Cincinatti losing early in the tourney's.

They looked really tired today in the first half. The fatigue was reflected in the pourus defense and poor shooting. No legs, no shot. The ticky tacky whistles in the first half didn't help. It was good to see them fight back at the end. Let's hope that run gives them a little momentum for Thursday. See y'all at the Gund at noon.
GO FLASHES!
THE SECOND SEASON STARTS THURSDAY!
THE PAST TWO WEEKS DON'T MATTER!
GO GO KENT STATE GO!

Look, I love these guys. They're my team. But there are reasons why Haut and Edwards were walk ons. Bedford and Jakeaway could be role players on most teams in the country. Geez, all have over achieved beyond any reasonable expectation and have clearly given all they have in mind, heart and body. While they might not leave another MAC Championship banner in the MACC, they will have held up the tradition of hard work, dedication and community role models in a very fine way. But my father, who was a very successful HS football coach, had a saying: "You can't coach in what God left out." And I think this summarizes where we are with this group of seniors.
When we went the Elite Eight, I was as delerious as any of you. But part of me looked at the cupboard left behind as pretty bare. So we've gotten through our two rebuilding years with 20 win seasons and two MAC East banners. Hey, I'll take it. But next year we finaly have a team with the talent to go along with the tradition. WE ARE KENT STATE.
