So....Netflix claimed 60M watched Tyson-Paul.

But Neflix was not up to the technical challenge.

Six weeks away from Netflix showing two Christmas Day games.

Not college sports related ....yet. But down the road, Netflix is aiming to be a player in big-time live events and that includes college sports.

They have some work to do. Though even the bigger CFB games draw ~10 million.

I was one of them...

Tyson got robbed by the judges...

Was 58 but moved like 88.

If they can't fix things I might bite the bullet and watch on a five or ten minute delay. Doing that worked wonders for Tyson-Paul (which transformed into a blurry mess when I switched to live.)

Within two weeks, Netflix has a pair of NFL games and the debut of Monday Night Raw. This is December 25 and January 6. Those three events will test the Netflix infrastructure...

Yeah---having seen some clips of his training---I kinda was expecting him to move better and quicker than he did. Im wondering if those training clips were done before or after "the health issue" that delayed the bout. I get he's 58---but he was 58 in the training clips and to me---he certainly appeared to be more mobile and quicker in the videos posted than he was in the fight. The fight was pretty darn anticlimatic to me.

I think Tyson tried to do that in the first minute, and he saw it wasn't working.
EVerybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth, and after Tyson knew he wasn't going to do Paul like he did Marvis Frazier long, long ago, he focused on not getting punched in the mouth.

The NFL games are going to be in the 20-30M range.
Monday Night Raw is going to be in the 2-3M range.

I know they’ve done a handful of live non-sports live events but was surprised they didn’t schedule something like a CFB or NFL game as a dry run before such a big event. Like how MLB stadiums open with college games to make sure the toilets can flush properly.

Yea I was a victim of the buffering. I turned it off then canceled Netflix the next day. I paid too much a month for them not to have their stuff figured out. Maybe one day I’ll return but not anytime soon.

Those are contractually spoken for. Jake Paul and his boxing promotion are a free agent.

The Tyson fight is a one-off -- think of it as a test run for Netflix's Christmas Day NFL games.

Right - the fight is more about making sure that the NFL Christmas Day games go well than the other way around.

Raiders-Chiefs last year averaged around 30 million viewers and peaked at a bit over 37 million viewers. It will be interesting to see what the Netflix number will be. The NFL is putting on good games with large fan bases where they ought to be much more compelling than the Tyson-Paul fight. So, if 60 million viewers is the baseline here, then the NFL ought to be blowing past that figure… provided that they get their technical issues figured out.

That’s correct. The next day would be today. Don’t know why I phrased it like that.
