Yeah you're right, looks like the only feasible option would be if someone got bought out from their game due to a scheduling issue. The fact that TXST doesn't play Sam and Lamar on a consistent basis is mind-boggling to me, keep the money within the university system. Looks like Lamar has 2024 scheduled with them, but their AD was smart enough to have a FBS game for each of the next 5 years set.
