It brings them up to 12 for all sports I think. The AAC wouldn't need to find a football only school.
On another note is there any good #12 for the MWC? Gonzaga got what they wanted from the WCC and didn't jump.
We'll really need to improve our football to be at all close to this though.
Early returns on 1 of our coaching hires since the new AD came on are really good (Hockey). WBB is having a great year and that coaching hire seems to have paid off (but will need more time). MBB has the culture improved and the team is fun to watch again at least, but we need to win, so the jury is still out. Football is only 1 season in on the new coach and definitely not far enough in to see how that could work.
UMass won't be in a position to get into a football conference soon unless someone gets desperate.
While football and s lagging behind but UConn football wasn't exactly a winning program at it's exit. The main question is the AAC a improvement from the A10. I honestly don't know the difference. I would think that the AAC would be interesting okay with a weak but improving football team and f the basketball teams could make up for it.
The AAC has really passed the A10 by. In basketball now, it's a P5(ACC, BE, B10,B12, SEC), then the tweener 2- P12, AAC, and then the big mid-majors (A10, MWC, WCC, MVC a bit).
If the AAC pulled off a VCU/UD/SLU trifecta, it could solidify a BB power-7 and send the A10 to the MWC/WCC/MVC level.
The A10 is already there....
AAC in the last 3 years since Wichita has arrived has gone 5.59, 8.57, and 8.60(so far) in Ken Pom. 7.59 average
A10 in the last 3 years has gone 1.28, 0.56, and 4.68(so far) in Ken Pom. 2.17 average
That's not on the same level at all.
