We have to keep in mind that talk of CBS "letting the SEC go" is extremely premature even as that word comes from CBS itself.

First, CBS actually still has the SEC for four more seasons, 2020 - 2023, and they of course intend to milk that for all the profit they can, which is considerable. Second, a lot can change in 3-4 year's time, there's no law that says CBS can't just change their mind and decide to try and re-sign the SEC any time before then.
