I am not sure going from games on networks everyone gets to one where only 56% of households gets and for less than half the money is considered a better deal based on expectations. Most MW fans think they are as good or better than the American. Now, most of the MW schools will be closer to my alma mater Charlotte and CUSA in exposure and money than the members of the American.

That is factually incorrect. The new MWC TV deal will earn each MWC school $3.9 million annually, with the exception of Boise and Hawaii. Boise State will earn $5.7 million annually from the new MWC agreement and Hawaii has their own deal with Spectrum, which earns $2.5 million annually. Hawaii will earn some additional compensation from this new deal as well, the number is unknown at this time.

CUSA makes about $200,000 per school on their current TV deal. This past season, CUSA had ten games on CBS Sports Network and ten games on the NFL Network. The rest of the games are on ESPN+, ESPN3, Facebook and Stadium. The conference championship game was on CBSSN.

With the MWC deal, 23 games will appear on CBS or CBSSN, with a minimum of three games annually on CBS. Fox will have 16-23 games, with a minimum annually of seven on Fox or FS1. The championship game will be televised on Fox or FS1.

At this point in time, CUSA has the worst TV deal of the ten FBS conferences. It is not in the ballpark with the MWC TV deal, exposure or revenue. With a shorter term deal than the AAC, the MWC could be in a good position to earn additional revenue under the next agreement, while the AAC is locked into their deal for the next 12 years.

The one concern I might have with this MWC deal is shutting out ESPN. I am curious to see how well that goes. The MWC needs CBS and Fox to promote their conferences, because ESPN will not be doing it. I can imagine that ESPN will barely mention the MWC during the college football season. I am also curious to see where the MWC goes with their Tier 3 rights.

I bet MWC goes with Sinclair or NBC Sports for their Tier 3 rights. Also I bet CBS is getting ready to out bid Notre Dame from NBC for that 3PM opening that they wil have since they will not be having SEC games in a few seasons
