@johnbragg - kudos to you for eating some humble pie

From the beginning, I did not understand the angst and multiple threads from a few posters about UConn leaving the AAC for the Big East (returning home) and football independence. I never saw it as a return to FCS or a football program that was going to be dropped. When Liberty announced its move to FBS independence in February of 2017, it had a similar challenge of creating an FBS schedule for the 2018 season. That schedule was announced 3 months later. During the process, there was very little information available or known outside of the few in the ADs office that worked on the schedule. I am sure that UConn was aware of the timing of Liberty's first FBS schedule creation and if they needed any help in creating their schedule for next year, the blueprint was probably shared.

Liberty does not need UConn, more independents or a conference to have success in scheduling. I've seen a number of threads and posts that make it look like football independents cannot survive unless there is a new conference created or half a dozen new independents are added. Obviously, when there are more independents, it is helpful and can make some things easier. Personally, I'm glad UConn has made the move to football independence and hope they have success in this transition. Now that most of the schedule has been released, I think the response from the UConn faithful will be positive and it will be well received by recruits. Scheduling for future years will improve. Immediately, there are no bowl tie-ins, but that has not been a concern for UConn recently. When they become eligible again, I believe there will be bowl opportunities.

Details have not been released, but I expect that the Liberty / UVA game has been moved to a future date and not removed entirely from the schedule.
