Matt wants to make sure that he will get the playing time next year that he deserves. With Van Vliet almost certainly starting, Matt would be competing with Chase for minutes again next year. Charlotte would give him a system that he is comfortable with and would be a lock to start all games there. There would be no reason for Matt to leave if Chase also left. I would not be surprised if Chase is leaning toward staying, or if the new coach could not guarantee the role that Matt is looking for.

1) Are reports on AVV so strong that he is a lock to start (regardless of who comes back)? That would be good news.

2) I hope you’re right that Chase is leaning toward staying. I wouldn’t infer that from Matt’s choices only, but if there’s any truth to that, I’d be VERY happy.

3) Why would Milon not get offered anything better than Charlotte? Sure, he’s a defensive liability, but those types of shooters don’t grow on trees. Gotta think some lower-end high majors and plenty of mid-majors would have a spot (probably even a starting spot) for an experienced player with his offensive skillset.
