This was an interesting item in that article:

SDSU doesn't want to set all those funds aside because they don't have all of that money (the Cal State board authorized the issuance of $350 million in bonds, and SDSU will later ask for at least $300 million more, per an article linked farther above) and possibly because they want to leave the door open to continue using the old stadium indefinitely rather than issuing bonds all at once to tear down the old stadium and build a new one immediately.
It's probably $30M to $40M to tear down the stadium.
