Of course, like everyone, they state with absolute certainty that "that these talks are absolutely not going to lead to a merger." Exactly the same statement every merger candidate states, right up until the day its announced.

This may acutally be just a deal to share some resources and save costs though. While both colleges are very small, neither seem to be hurting for money. Lyon has an endowment of $60 million, with 600 odd students. U of O has around a $130 million endowment with 800 odd students.

U of O is D3, while Lyon is NAIA. Certainly not a done deal, but potential movement to watch.

I heard about this during the news of the Lyon College president being fired a few days ago, calling his campus in Batesville a liberal, tolerant haven amongst a bunch of racist hateful KKK white supremacists. (My paraphrasing) Guess what, the townspeople didn't like being referred to that way by the local college president. He's gone. Read the article below, its a good one!

The ex prez is quite the storyteller apparently. He says he's had multiple vehicles fired bombed while I'm WV because he officiated a gay wedding, his house was criminally vandalized, and a Trump rally "basically out the campus on lockdown in November of 2020," Of course, none of this was reported to police, and no students were on campus in Fall of 2020 because of Civic, but these are his claims.

He sounds like a real life Walter Mitty!
Maybe AZcats knows more about this...

Sorry, just saw this. If anything was to happen between the schools it would be more of a cooperative partnership and not a full-on merger. Both schools have always been small; that's one of the reasons Lyon brought back football.
