Joining the NAIA and the Red River Conference. Initially Soccer, softball and golf, basketball to be added when rec center is completed in 2022.

Sweet! I was wondering when they would start athletics there. Good NAIA conference to start with.
They in process of building for 25k+ enrollment so I doubt they will be in the NAIA for long. Good D1 candidate in 15 years....unless there is a break in the NCAA.

Texas A&M- Central is now on the clock. They only have men and women's rugby, but they had plans on going D1 including a possible FBS in the future.
Speaking as someone that was formerly stationed at Fort Hood during the UCT days when the discussion of transitioning to a public university was going on, it's gonna be awhile. First they need to add lower division students. Then they need to become more than the defacto night school for Fort Hood. The student body won't be as interested in the traditional college experience than you would see in a traditional setting like Mary Hardin-Baylor on the other side of Bell County.
