They are currently in the Heartland Conference. Instead of moving to the Lone Star next year with the rest of the conference, they are moving north to the MIAA. Like Newman (making the same move), they do not have football.

A few years ago from the local paper, Rogers State was looking to add some sports. Football was one of them. For them being in the Heartland and going to Lone Star was going be very expensive to travel. Going to the MIAA would be cheaper for them if they added more sports including football. UCO, NE Okie State, Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern are all driving distance for them.

The press release says they're not adding football.

Nonetheless, they will still save on travel expenses by moving to the MIAA.

I did not say that they will. Just saying as they are adding sports, football could be looked at in the future.

UAFS should also go and join them as well. Would add another school that could cut down on their spending for travel as well.

Wow. Rogers State University itself on their own website officially stated yesterday; "RSU officials said the university will not be adding football to its athletic programs." You can't get any clearer than that. Despite that statement you still believe they are looking into adding football based on some fictitious article in some random local newspaper from a few years ago.

MIAA fans were upset with Newman coming in and they are more upset now. They don't like having non-football members. Granted, the fans don't run the MIAA. UAFS gets the benefit of lower travel costs by going to the MIAA but there are no benefits for the MIAA to add UAFS. UAFS stretches the MIAA footprint farther south, RSU is closer to most current members than Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State. The MIAA adding UAFS would also create an odd number of non-football and total conference members. The Newman and Rogers State additions are only replacements for 2 departing members. Almost no one believes the MIAA will expand to more than 14 total members.
