Probably a two-fold deal.
1. CSU-B being nice to the WAC for providing a home for them and giving them time to find another school to move up.

2. Gives UC-SD time to make preparations for the move such as giving a couple of years to prepared for the increase in costs with the move to D1.


I think UCSD had already had a few years to prepared to go D1. If they move up in 2018? They could be eligible in 2021 for post season.
