Actually the analogy would be if you PREVENTED your neighbor from getting the same cable package as you, even if he paid (e.g., won games or even the conference championship) then he complained.

ULL's stealing the cable actually does hurt the neighbors in this case, because they can't get cable because you're using one of the 5 connections. And there are only 3 connections available that have ESPN. And one only has internet (no TV).

It isn't harmless in this case. Nor are the costs to the other teams negligible. If USA had access to the same amount of close and desirable bowl bids with good TV exposure, then why would I care if ULL had a special deal. But ULL's hogging (as well as the DG's refusal to select USA) carries a real diminishment of USA's access.
