So what is your protocol? It appears to me your protocol is

1) Bowls always get to pick if they pick ULL.

UNLESS

2) They pick USA, then intervention is necessary. And no, ESPN didn't decide to intervene on their own.

---

Guys, you guys spent all day yesterday screeching about how we should keep the bowls happy...because it helps ULL. And when the Bowls actually picked USA, then its okay for intervention to take place?
Never said that...at all. USA and their fans should suck less so they get picked. We have sat at home bowl eligible more years than you have had a football team. Let the bowls pick, if we don't get picked so be it. If Nola picks someone else and we end up where we, awesome..I'll be there having a blast. You aren't entitled to sht and neither are we. We went to the Nola bowl 4 years at 8-4...this our first time ever going to a bowl at 6-6. We earned it according to the bowl rewuiremts and obviously we earned in the eyes of the Nola bowl with our previous 4 trips. Stop feeling entitled Tom, try sucking less and it will help you for the rest of your life in everything you do. Don't expect things to be given, earn it.

We were picked. By two of the three bowls that we have access to. I guess we and our fans don't suck as much as you think. The problem remains that the league/ESPN intervened to our detriment.

There's a problem here...USA can't go to TWO of our contracted bowls and then has decided to throw the excuse as to why we can't go to TWO of our contracted bowls out the window to exclude us from two other bowls. This is BS.

I'm certainly willing to accept that, IF there is a CONSISTENT, and fairly applied metric based upon conference standing, then fine, send us to Tucson. But this year, there was no metric in place and USA was still intervened against. But no, the rule shouldn't be...ULL has a special set of rules that only apply to them.

And unlike many ULL posters in here, I'm actually advocating for a set of stated rules. Put it in writing. The NO Bowl accepts rules from CUSA, they'll accept them from the Belt.

USA earned the right to go to Montgomery or Orlando using current rules. Just as much as ULL earned the right to go to New Orleans.

You got nothing.

Where did you read about ESPN & the League overruling the bowls? I'd like to read up on that as I might be in agreement with that part of your argument.

Multiple fan bases, including Ark State and App's are peddling that story. No there probably won't be a news story about it. The Ark State AD actually told people on Sunday "we almost went to Tucson". And that would have meant that someone picked USA over Ark State.

BTW, ESPN Officially announced USA to the Cure Bowl. We also know that the Camellia Bowl picked us over both conference champions.

What supposedly happened was that the Cure and Camellia picked USA over App and stAte. After the NO Bowl used its 'first pick' to pick Not Troy, Not App, and Not Ark State. So Troy went to the Go Daddy (they're happy). And then, despite our supposedly sucky team, fans, and support BOTH the Cure and Camellia picked USA in turn. Someone (and I really don't blame them - but the system needs to be fixed), went crying to ESPN either on their own or through the league office and 'poof'...USA is now in Tucson. Anyone on the board wish to correct me, go right ahead.

Now, to be clear, we probably belong in Tucson this year. But the real problem is the NO Bowl. That is what is causing the problem. And the leagues continuing tolerance of the ULL reservation there.

BTW, getting rid of 'first pick' for the NO Bowl wouldn't have changed much this year (it still should be removed) because I doubt any of the other bowls would have picked ULL over USA ahead of the NO Bowl (Cure might). ULL would still be available when the NO Bowl got to pick, and regardless of any other metric available....they're picking ULL.

Obviously, there's a particular problem for USA. We're banned from 1 bowl because they don't want a home team (DG). We're effectively banned from another (NO) because they're taking ULL regardless. For the league or another team to turn around and then intervene to lock us out of our next two options (both of whom chose us) is a real problem.

The problem remains that after this year, it is crystal clear that the NO Bowl isn't going to pick anyone but ULL, record (in or out of conference) be damned. stAte and App have well travelling fanbases. App won the conference and beat ULL. But not even a whiff from the NO Bowl. Or the DG Bowl (they were taking Troy no matter what). Remove two bowls from the conference champions, and life gets really difficult in bowl selection.
