Somebody didn't click the link provided in the first post.
Yes, they play American Football. They play in stadiums ranging from a few thousand to more than 50,000.
Looks like some of the schools even have better attendance than some of the G5 schools.
Obviously the idea of inviting them into an American league would be absurd though. The talent level in Mexico is terrible compared to the U.S. and very few Americans would be willing to go play in Mexico.
Although one is likely safe on this forum, I rarely click links unless I am very confident in the source. It's all to easy to download a virus, intentional or not, that way. Call me overly cautious if you want but that's the cyber world we live in. At some point I wonder if some American sports conference would ever or has ever considered expansion beyond the border to some extent. For that matter why not expand north into Canada. It is much more stable and safe in general. I presume there any many significant reasons why it hasn't ever been done or else we'd already have seen it happen.
As far as college athletics, it may take a vote of the Division I President’s Council to allow a foreign university to join that division of the NCAA. That's what happened with Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C., to become the first member from outside the U.S. to join the American college sports governing body. That was in Division II, not sure it has happened in DI yet.
