Some students are paying $1100 to $1500 for athletics.
Personally think that is way too high, but $50 a semester is not a lot.

I think they are having to ease into this because they are also adding a $50/semester capital improvements fee.

So for now, based on 2010 numbers, the athletic fee will bring in $145k. It will be interesting to see where the rest comes from.

EKU's undergraduate enrollment is 14,000, and $50 per semester is $100 per year. Multiplying 14,000 x $100 yields $1.4 million per year.

Throw in the additional $1 million per year in CFP money that comes with being in a G5 conference, and the additional $400,000 or so that can be earned from playing an annual one-and-done away game against a P5 school as an FBS rather than FCS opponent, and EKU's annual athletic revenue would be over 20% higher than the current level. That's before any revenue gain from increased football ticket sales or booster donations.

I wouldn't count on the conference passing that $1 million per team CFP money straight through to the schools.

More likely part of it gets diverted to improve regional TV, to help fund the bowls and increase subsidies for the conference tournaments.
