And, if the I-Bowl was willing to take the Cajuns, why aren't they willing to take stAte?

I've had multiple sources tied to both ULL and ASU tell me the same story. When Florida lost last week, the Independence Bowl was released by the SEC contingent on a 2nd BCS team being placed. Latest BCS Standings showed 3 SEC Teams in the top 5...and games against each other ensured that at least two would stay there.

When that happened, The Independence Bowl called ULL to tell the Cajuns they were the front runner, and to check interest. Hudspeth wanted to play in the Independence Bowl, but Farmer went with the wishes of a good portion of the Cajun fan base and withdrew their name from I Bowl consideration.

When that happened, the sponsporship for the bowl decided on picking up an open PAC 12 team if one is available for better TV ratings. The bowl would have taken ULL over TV ratings because of the crazy high ticket sales potential...but that same guarantee does not exist for ASU.
I few things to point out:
1. No proof that Advocare 100 offered UL anything, especially after
losing to ULM.
2. No evidence of UL fans supporting WKU to GoDaddy over ASU,
3. Quote from you: "The bowl would have taken ULL over TV ratings
because of crazy high ticket sales potential.... but that same
guarantee does not exist for ASU."
4. UL to Shreveport 3.5 hours, ASU to Shreveport 5.5 hours. So,
there will be a drastic drop off in ticket sales because of an
additional 2 hours of driving time? This shows a lack of fan
support or willingness to travel. UL has proven that they will
travel. You will most likely see a strong contention in Mobile
Saturday. I made my reservations weeks ago.
5. Newsflash: UL is not located in New Orleans. It's a 2.5 hour drive
from Lafayette. Shreveport is 3.5 hours. The distance has nothing
to do with our willingness to go to either bowl.
6. UL is most likely in New Orleans because that is the best offer that
we had. We would love to have more options but we all know that
the SBC is weak in negotiating bowl tie-ins. The only way to get
a better bowl under current conditions is to perform better on the
field and to establish a strong track record in ticket sales. We are
improving on the field and have proven that we will travel.
7. If ASU does go to bowl, please send us a thank you note for the
hundreds of thousands that we will send you to help with
expenses. We could have used that money to keep our coach.
