Cincinnati 10 seed lost to 7 seed Creighton-MVC
Pitt 8 seed lost to 9 seed Wichita St.-MVC
Notre Dame 7 seed lost to 10 seed Iowa St.-Big 12
Villanova 9 seed lost to 8 seed UNC-ACC
Georgetown 2 seed lost to 15 seed FGCU-Atlantic Sun
Only 3 of 8 survived the first round. As a favorite, BE schools were 3-3 in the first round. The East semi-finals were the first BE wins against a higher seed. 1985 was a great year for the BE. This year, not particularly impressive yet.
Still better than just about everyone else and much better then the SEC...
Don't hate...congratulate...this is the last hurrah for a once great league...
BE had too many good programs for its own good. I think DePaul, St. John's, Providence, Seton Hall and to a lesser extent Cincinnati suffered once the BE megasized in 2005. All will probably be better off separated. C7 and ACC refugees will still be in outstanding bb conferences. Cincinnati was fine before BE and should be fine afterwards. UConn will probably be fine as well although they will probably be the ones most missing the old rivalries. USF never was and that probably won't change. Rutgers and WVU have good bb homes as well.
