This is going to be allowed to be counted as an FIU home game!?

I don't even know if you'll get that many fans for that game. I know FAMU-BCC draw big, but that's an all black game. Will FIU/FAMU draw big too? I don't know how it can be a home game if the overwhelming number of fans will be for FAMU, and/or don't care about the game.

This is not slamming FIU, becasue MANY other universities use this practice. I just think it's ridiculous that teams can play their "home games" in basically other cities and count them towards attendance.
The reason the game is being held at the Orange Bowl (in Miami just like FIU is) is because both universities are predicting an overwhelming turnout. This was originally a home game for FIU. Our little stadium (FIU Community Stadium) would not be able to hold the overwhelming number of the expected fans and alumni. Our stadium, in year #1 held a little over 17,000 fans. Last year (year #2), they extracted some bleachers and shrunk the number to 12,000 for reasons that only they know. This year they have again reverted back to the old set-up of 17,000+. Even with that said, we are still expecting alot more than 17,000 fans for this game. A good number of the people at the game will be neutral and will come for the "Battle of the Bands".

In case you didn't know, FAMU is in Tallahassee, but Miami has always been a main hub and had a huge number of FAMU alumni. We are reviving a game that was last held between FAMU and Miami in 2002.

This is a game where we are playing at a bigger stadium due to the circumstances of not having a big field of our own. The City of Miami owns the Orange Bowl, not U of Miami. And regarding "using this practice", Miami has never been a town that attends anything unless it is a big event. This is true across the board which includes the Florida Marlins, the Miami Heat, UM games (unless they play the big name teams), and yes even the Miami Dolphins. FIU is at a much greater disadvantage because the football team is still young and trying to create a tradition which includes finding our own identity and stepping out of UM's shadow. This is just an advertisement to the community to let them know that there is another team in Miami aside from the Hurricanes.
This game is simply a matter of scheduling a state school that happens to draw a big crowd due to a huge number of alumns in the big city in which the event is being held and just happens to be in our hometown."

P.S. Sorry to take up so much of your board space, Trojans1andAll.
