You are assuming the sunbelt will sponsor soccer because WVa, Kentucky, and South Carolina will go to the sunbelt, but the sunbelt can't have a league if they don't.

You assume it's a worse league, but one that is not a clearly factual assumption, two it definitely isn't if you remove the p5 teams from the equation. Travel? Ummmm, we span the same footprint as all three p5 teams regular conferences. Not sure Kentucky or W.Va are much closer to the Sunbelt teams then they are to the AAC. You could make an argument for South Carolina, but are they going alone?
