RE: Maybe Candle and Coach K aren’t so safe.
Personally I like MOB, and think he leaves UT in much better shape in many ways (especially in terms of facilities, success of wide range of UT teams, support for student athletes and national profile of programs) than it was when he started, but as AD he assumes some of the responsibility for failure of FB, MBB and WBB not winning more championships - that's a fair criticism. My biggest issue is when you decide to retire yet ask for two more year contact extension up to retirement date its the wrong approach and message to send. Yes timing was impacted by departure of Gaber and hire of Postel, but new President is not going to have a retiring AD stick around for another two years, as time to move on is now, hire a new AD who then is in best position to decide on future of coaches. You don't leave those undecided with a lame duck AD looking to cash in for two more years added to contact as some form of "retirement" award or honor-thats apparently how some big dollar donors view it. That's simply wrong and not in best long term interest of UT and Athletics.
