Please don't take this the wrong way, but I bet if Ga. State rattled off a 9-3 or better type of season, or won a conference championship, especially several seasons like that, the buzz in Atlanta about Ga. State football would pick up dramatically. App State FB is never the lead story in Charlotte/Raleigh/Greensboro, but discussion is made somewhat regularly on the radio stations. Coach interviews, etc. I doubt seriously that would be the case if Appalachian was struggling. Not that Ga. State "struggles" every year, but high clip winning would make a big difference.

In other words, there is some visibility for G5 teams as long as they are winning a lot.

Part of it in Atlanta is who we play. The T-shirt fan in Atlanta sees little difference between Appalachian State and Jacksonville State. More games on TV by the G5 will show folks that there is good football being played at the mid major level. Of course that is not good news for the Wake Forests and Indianas of the world. I for one don't think reaching the level of P5s is the definition of success. There is a place in between where we are now and say where UGA is that I can define as success. If our OOC schedule is regional G5s and home and homes with regional P5s and if we are wining 8-12 games a year and have respectable attendance and shots at a respectable bowl or even a NY6 bowl I can live with that even though that is well short of being Georgia.
