Fans could always watch it on Fox Sports Go app... All the release means is that they can watch it on ESPN3 if they do not want to use Fox Sports Go App....BTW both of require online sign-in info from a cable, IPTV or satellite provider.

As someone who streams everything, being on the Fox Sports Go app or ESPN app is fine. Both have apps for Apple TV, so it wouldn't affect me at all. However, it does limit the ability of folks to see the game who haven't made the transition, or depend on a smart TV for their streaming that lacks these apps. It's just unfortunate for SU fans that depend on YES.
Odd that this game is at noon and the BC game - also on RSNs - is at 6 PM. With the Red Sox playing at 7:30 pm you'd think it would make sense to flip the time slots for those two games, wouldn't it? I mean, these guys get paid a lot more than me, but...
It would.
In Boston, though, NESN has a NESN+ channel that will show the BC game on linear cable and satellite services. NESN+ actually carries quite a few games from the ACC RSN package. Similarly, in Atlanta, there are two affiliated RSN channels, Fox Sports South and Fox Sports Southeast. FSSO is carrying the same Red Sox-Braves game with FSSE carrying BC-Texas State. YES has no sister or overflow channel, which makes it a weaker affiliate for the ACC RSN package.
