UAH has developed a 5 year philanthropic model and granted conference rights beyond five years too. So a southern conference is almost certainly coming.

And yes, the lone NCAA hockey program in the South may cling to life for a while longer with donations, in a shell of a conference with the 2 Alaska schools, which were facing severe financial problems even before COVID. This almost certainly must mean a Southern hockey conference is coming. Maybe the Alaska programs could relocate to hockey hotbed Alabama! That's a real "NoDak" of an idea!

Speaking of your reading comprehension skills, the article does not specify anything about conference rights. You must have again misinterpreted a piece of news, intentionally or otherwise. The last sentence of the article:

"Now, to keep the program going past 2020-21, the new agreement calls for a five-year philanthropic funding plan and the resolution of its conference issue."

Not exactly conclusive.
