Although I tend to agree with you, most mid-major programs would not fire a coach with Majerle's record. Most ADs would look past one bad season. However, Majerle's situation really depends on how badly the Administration wants results. GCU aspires to becoming the next Gonzaga. And, there has been a lot of money put forth toward that cause. GCU has now been eligible for NCAA tournament play for three years and running. And, Majerle has now been at GCU seven seasons... and based off his current results he is no closer to getting GCU an NCAA tournament bid. The Lope fans and boosters are starting to getting restless. Majerle really needs a major infusion of talent to turn the tide next season. His leash is getting short every year... 20 wins or not. Its' about winning the WAC and going to the NCAA tourney.

Sure, GCU fans gotten to see more meaningless wins than Central Arkansas fans and it wasn't quite as boring a brand of basketball to watch (Russ ball is excruciatingly slow/bad), but GCU basketball is no closer to the originally stated goals than when we began. By in large, the Majerle-era has been a rocking chair: It's given everyone something to do, but we still haven't gotten anywhere.
