Let me say this: I'm a soft, effete, pretentious middle-aged white man living high above the "unwashed masses" in a expensive condo tower in downtown Nashville. I admit my shortcomings and would likely scoff at these young people more than you would. There is a absurdity to what they are doing.
Having said that ... we all need to be more respectful of the earth and the environment.
So in a way ... good for these "young rich, privileged, white kids telling everyone else" about the realities of the planet. Let's open our eyes and be respectful.
My sister-in-law has two degrees from the UofL and I often root for the Cards. You and I would probably get along fine ... until you wanted to punch me.
How does one be "respectful" of an inanimate object like "the earth" or "the environment"?
You're talking about our planet as if it has feelings.
You're talking about "the environment" as if it's a superbeing or a deity that can think and respond to actions humans take.
A protest like that does nothing to advance there cause. Want to prove you care, stay after the game for trash pickup, organize a stream cleaning or use the respective schools massive endowments to create the inventions needed. What happened yesterday was the equivalent of a $#!+post on reddit.
This is the equivalent of a 2 year old laying down in the isle of the grocery store and screaming because they didn't get a cookie. It was equally effective.
