If he didn’t believe in Chadwell, he could have had time to replace him before going out. I think he wants to get out of his way now, and give him the keys. Moglia has been a godsend in many aspects, namely fund raising. He has been limited though, because he is on a sport’s staff. Once free of that distinction, he can be much more active, which we sorely need with expansion/move up etc. Provided Chadwell is capable, and ready, this is the best of both worlds.

The one CCU opinion given here thus far is not 100% representative of our fan base. There’s a lot of opinion out there ranging from, Joe needed to go anyway bc the BAM thing wasn’t disciplined enough and he was not 100% in anyway with his TDAmeritrade role... to Chadwell has been called a hard ass/players don’t like his style, we are doomed... to people who don’t like Chadwell’s offense (a lot feel that way, yes we had D’Angelo Henderson types but we used to sling the ball a ton too and people miss that)... multiple reads on this. Then there are those willing to see where this goes. The man had success at about the most abysmal place one could (CSU), and it didn’t seem he had player/personality issue there.

It is interesting that Joe will stay in control from an executive point of view. Our AD, Hogue, has not made any Big 3 hires since coming on in 2014/15. He just stays out of Gilmore’s way with baseball, he was at the helm for the last two Ellis renewals but it’s clear that’s not his decision (BoT like Cliff, God help us), and now he has zero control of football. Not sure that’s the best arrangement. Not when you have guys like Mojahir out there as a peer, or (like his past or not) Ian McCall at Liberty power-brokering a FCS program to relevance in the FBS faster than us.

Anyway, most are willing to give Chadwell a shot. If this removes a figure head CEO coach whose style didn’t allow his AssocHC/OC/QB whisperer to flourish, great. We gain room for a singular direction in football, and gain a huge asset in AthDept Admin. If it doesn’t work, my guess is the whole thing gets blown up in two years anyway... ironically by Moglia... and a whole new staff brought in. We will be past stadium construct cost by that point, and better able to fund a more ideal scenario. (Don’t lose sight of that very important fact, Joe has always been at a discount - he’s a billionaire - and keeping a guy we got on the cheap, in Chadwell, due to his exit cupircumstances at CSU, regardless of how it “looks”, is about our only option right now.)

Liberty hired disgraced coach Hugh Freeze which got them the attention that they wanted. The only team of any significance that they beat was Troy with their backup in for the first time.

Coastal is positioned well in Myrtle Beach and with a new stadium. Two years in, don't lose sight of the preparation in depth building, especially quality depth on the defense.
