It is my understanding that all farm team players in baseball are on the MLB team's payroll. Back when Eddie Glennon owned the Barons, they had mostly their own players on their own payroll.
The new leagues in football are likely to have that "old school" type local payroll within league guidelines. In Alabama, $83K /year would place them in the upper middle class in income at over twice the state's median individual worker's income..

Its actually for 4-5 months...
