I know y'all are down right now...I'm down too. However if you look at the bigger picture as a UNCW lifer, it hasn't been that bad. UNCW has gone to the Big Dance in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2016, and 2017. During that time period... here's a few for you:

C of C 0
ECU 0
Tribe 0
Drexel 0
Elon 0.

These are just a few for you to ponder about. If you think that it's easy, it's not. And, C of C actually has a following that expects this-same for the Tribe too...they've both been good for a long while.

This team wasn't going to cure their collective defensive woes overnight. If you see this as an embarrassment, go ahead...the numbers don't support that entirely- this defense has shown vulnerability. This team is trying to implement a style that requires ball movement and working inside out in the half court and will require half court defense. This wasn't what was required in the past several years and they have several new guys that have to learn new roles.

If you want to complain, then complain. I'm upset that we can't get over the hump right now too. Hawks are thin in the post via injury right now and don't have a step out big or a big that can put it on the deck a little and cause a problem too. If you're a fan of the program, be a fan regardless through thick and thin and give support to what we are now.

I felt that we couldn't quite get over the hump in the NCAA's because of defense and I was right about that-we lost 2 close games and should have never lost to UVA with that team. Going forward....defense is much easier when you have multiple rim protectors/rebounders in this system and that hasn't been the case as well as bad perimeter defense. I'm going to pull for improvement and follow the progression of guys like Fornes, Taylor, Gary (good new player that's doing what it appeared that he could do on tape) and Estime at this point. Their development will be key for the future and you can add in Devonte in his new role. If Devonte wants to play in the league, he has to develop his overall game and we see, regardless of his tremendous impact, that he is still developing.

Hawks lost to a bad team tonight. Okay, it sucks, we gave it away again. It's the overall process and perspective that needs to be considered at this point and be glad that you've actually had a team that has done something at some point in your lifetime. They will get better or another coach will eventually come. UNCW has a history of getting there for some reason and it stems from the fans passion.
