Looking at their future schedules, the only games they have agreements on past 2018 are @ Arizona State and 2 games (H&H?) with, of all teams, Kennesaw State?? 04-jawdrop

This screams to me they are de-emphasizing football, if not more.

It looks like Kent schedules two games with an FCS school. They play Howard in 2017 & 2018 then KSU in 2019 & 2020. Based on their schedules with money games, I would imagine this is a way to spread out one large payment over multiple games.

Sounds like an athletics budget in trouble, not de-emphasizing football.
I agree Kent State's schedules going forward appear to be a bit strange unless it's to maximize money games.

They look a lot like ULM. The majority of MAC programs don't get a lot of return on their investment in the sport despite having low costs. 5,000 people in attendance and 12,000 tickets sold don't exactly support the notion that growth is occurring; and in business, if you aren't growing you are in decline. More than likely a way to have cash reserves as they can't recoup expenses any other way.
