The part that always bothered me was the year that Archer was the backup QB and didn't get on the field at either position.

If you mean 2008, he actually did get on the field. As I recall he started against Villanova. Can't have your back-up running around as a WR in case you need him for that exact situation.

But I do agree that he was probably the best QB on the roster for several of the years he did not start.
