RE: Drexel Women's Basketball 2016-17
A couple of things that I want to add between the comparisons between the 2009 team and this team.

In 2009, the CAA had 12 teams and played the unbalanced schedule. Drexel got the luck of the draw that year by facing JMU, VCU, and ODU one time each. So that team only had to face the top 3 teams in the regular season just 3 times. That team went 16-2 in the CAA.

This team has to face everybody twice. Had the 2009 team had to face the top teams twice, there's no guarantee that they would have finished 1st.

I do agree with Dan that this team is much more balanced. The 2009 team was Gabby or Bust. This year, if you take any one of their top players out of the lineup, they're still dangerous. Losing Lidge may have been a key factor in the team losing the Charleston (that slight loss of depth may have hurt them), but they still went 4-1 with Lidge out of the lineup. Clearly that team had more of an inside presence that the 2017 team seems to lack. Both teams are very strong defensively.
