RE: All in with Tony, lets kick the door in!
Tony had 11 NCAA D-III appearances @ Hamden-Sydney and 13, 20+win seasons.
He has led the Tribe to 3 consecutive 20 win seasons @ William and Mary (counting non-D1 wins) and has the team performing well at a mid-major level. I hear what Mrs. Got Ribe has said about the resources needed for future success and making the NCAA's once each player cycle, which sounds like a good goal for our school.
I am eagerly awaiting the new thread on what we can practically do to help facilitate reaching this goal and the discussion that follows. Tony is a good coach, although he has flaws as all of (except Rocco) do.
We are aware that support for athletics @ William and Mary is less than most of our opponents, and probably always will be so, but we can improve those resources by working together. I am distressed by Mr. Got Ribe's disclosure on the potential that earmarked resources for a sport may potentially displace resources for that sport to be distributed to others.
My favorite sport @ William & Mary is Men's Basketball and it should be the one with the most favorable cost/benefit ratio at a school such as W&M. There is no reason that the talent level of the players and coach can't break the door down.
We need to ban together to get them the resources to do so on a sustained basis as outlined in our athletic goals for student athletes and hold the athletic department stakeholders from AD to team managers and everyone between accountable. there is an energy that has grown and we need to sustain and increase it. Kudos to those who have led the way. It is time for more of us to get on the bus.
