It is a good thing that the SBC has seen a big increase in the number of bowl eligible teams the last 2 years. It has sort of outstripped the bowl opportunities. But I agree with Chiefsfan next year there are 10 more bowl spots and we are adding the 3rd guaranteed bowl for a SBC team and the problem of lack of opportunity for SBC bowl-eligible teams will be largely eliminated.

If you think of it in the not-to-distant past the SBC has had so few bowl eligible teams that the guaranteed spots were very low and there really was not that much need for backup deals. I am very glad that is changing.

Starting in 2015 with 11 teams (and possibly 12) I think it is a very safe bet that the SBC will have at least 5 eligible teams every year and possibly 7-8. So if we can get 1 more guaranteed bowl to get to 4 and have a couple of backups we probably are going to be in good shape.
