But let's speak clearly here.

The Cajuns have probably lost their starting quarterback for the next two games. They just lost to ULM and may lose to a very dangerous USA team next week.

Wouldn't stAte fans be better served looking in the mirror and asking themselves why they didn't give WKU a curb stomping guaranteeing themselves a conference co-championship at this point and perhaps an outright championship after next weekend's game?

Do that and your bowl is locked up, no?

There is no tie-breaker and co-champs are equal. But Cajuns beat us head-to-head in our own place and clinched a share of the championship.

So they deserve to to go wherever they want without worrying about anyone else. Anything other than that is sour grapes.

As for beating WKU, we gave it our best shot with a backup QB and almost pulled it off. We finished #2 at worst.

Thanks for putting that the way you did. I've admired stAte fans generally because they're not smack talkers and just get the job done year in year out.

If the Cajuns lose from here forward without Broadway I'm sure some Cajun fans will whine that we lost because our qb was injured. Well, I'll respond the same.

A top 25 team, as many of our fans believed the Cajuns were, rises above adversity and finds a way to win. A good team is more than one man. If the starting qb gets injured, then the coaches better have the next guy prepared to hit the ground running. And if he's not as talented as the guy that went down, then the defense better step it up a knotch to give him a chance to win with fewer points scored. Everyone has to step it up.

If a team doesn't have skilled backups, then they're not really top quality teams.

We have moaned a lot about our performances this year...like Memphis. But I haven't heard many fans at all say anything bad about our performance against WKU. I'm awfully proud of the way that they responded to the adversity and very happy with the way our backup played.

Indeed. And you'll likely be rewarded for the season's fine work with a bowl invite.

But at the same time, WKU warrants some respect too. After we beat them up there I was sure they'd fold. They didn't. They've fought till the very end and have finished the season with a better overall record than stAte. Toss in the Patrino storyline and I can understand why an ESPN might want to see them in a bowl. As others have stated, the bowls are about making money. "Being fair" rarely enters into the equation.

As for the conference affiliation issue as it relates to a bowl bid, there's only one question to ask. Is WKU a Belt member??
