Little Cesars Pizza Bowl no longer affiliated with the Belt
Quote:Per Pete Pelegrin's blog on FIUSports.com:

The Sun Belt Conference's ties to the Pizza Bowl are just about over. If last December was the last Pizza Bowl for a Sun Belt team, then the Panthers finished it in spectacular fashion with their rousing 34-32 win over Toledo on Dec. 26, 2010.

With the Big Ten Conference going to 12 teams with the addition of Nebraska this year, the Pizza Bowl is no longer required to have a backup contract with another conference (Sun Belt).

Of course, if there are not enough Big Ten teams bowl-eligible and no other bowl-eligible teams from other conferences available and there happens to be a bowl-eligible Sun Belt team then you could see a return to Detroit by a team from FIU's conference.

The Sun Belt is working on getting an agreement with another bowl game in addition to the tie-ins that the conference already has with the New Orleans Bowl and the GoDaddy.Com Bowl.

The Pizza Bowl also announced they moved the bowl game to Dec. 27 and in the afternoon instead of the day after Christmas and at night like last year.
