He was one of Mel Tucker's first big recruits, high three star on 247 and four star on rivals, had offers from MSU, Cincinnati, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, and Rutgers. Looks like Miami-OH also offered him once he hit the portal this year. He has three years left to play.

Losing two of the "big three" (even though Lassiter was every bit as good as those guys) it'll be huge to find that third guy to go with Knue and Lassiter, hopefully Lockett can be that guy.

I think the easy (or probably lazy) comparison is to our other MSU transfers, Douglas and Kline. Obviously they are all different positions, but they were all pretty big recruits (especially by EMU standards), got to MSU and didn't play a whole lot, and then transferred to EMU with multiple years left. Douglas probably has the inside track to start this year, but has had a hard time finding a starting spot outside of filling in for some injured players his first few seasons here. Kline meanwhile came right in and was one of the best players on our defense and will be one of the keys again next year. I guess that is to say, just because a guy was a big recruit in high school and is coming from a power-5 school, it doesn't always mean they come right in and light the world on fire. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out for Lockett.

This whole class as really come together about as well as we could hope for in my opinion, especially if we add Jefferson Adam! The one curious thing is the linebacker position. I think we are all very confident with Joe and Chase back this year, but they will both be seniors and we don't have much after them. We only brought in Eliuk this year, and didn't bring anyone last year (other than Joe and Chase). May have to hit the portal hard next year for help at that spot...it worked last year!

Yeah we need a DE, also one more TE. May have to wait until we hire a LB coach to get a LB and my guess it will be a late addition. With Boone leaving do we need another RB? Agree this class has come together very nicely. For the second year in a row we play the portal cards very well.

Sounds like we are in pretty good shape to add Adam at the DE spot.

Some may disagree, but I like where we are at TE! I think Paaske showed last year he can be a threat in the passing game, and I like Getzinger as a blocker and short yardage guy. Reese is the big X factor there, he could be a huge boost to the offense if he lives up to some of his billing. I suppose maybe adding a JUCO for some depth couldn't hurt.

I think the RB room is just fine as well. Obviously Evans and Jackson are going to be your top two (and maybe the best duo in the MAC), but Jackson-Anderson was a big recruit who got some playing time last year, Moss and Smith are both still around, and Edified said Deion Brown is already here for spring ball. Unless Blake Corum wants to transfer over I think we are set 03-rotfl

But the staff keeps handing new tight end offers. That may tell you something.
They are doing that to prepare for the future not for this season

That makes sense. RB is set, so is TE. O-line has been addressed with 3 transfers and that is phenomenal. LB would be my only area of concern. Chase and Joe are the best 2 LB's we have had in a while but after them I dont know about it. Jefferson and Scheidt I think are still good but we need to add someone here I think.

I love hearing that McCoy has developed. That will push Austin who I like,, but needs to develop more.

Secondary seems set with the group that we have coming back. We started to see the benefits last season in the 2nd half of playing all these young guys earlier. This could be the deepest group with Peavy, Scott, Cam Smith, Shine, Scandrett, GUlley, Lee. Sheesh this is deep!

According to Lockett's 24/7 profile, he was recruited to MSU by Brad Salem. Salem's kid is an EMU QB. Coincidence or connection?

I’m happy for him. Great team guy. Hope he transfers somewhere like Tulsa and tears it up.

Best running back at EMU since Darius Jackson in my opinion. That is until Evans and Jackson. I think he is as good a runner as Evans, just does not have his total game with respect to blocking, pass catching, etc... and he does not have Jackson's breakaway speed. I was disappointed to see him so under involved when Evans went down.

He could be a godsend to someone in the FCS.

I am not sure that national TV exposure was a good thing in this case.

RE: 2022 Transfer Portal / Post Dec. Signing Day
in the last few years we have gotten transfers from...
-MSU
-West Virginia
-Boston College
-Troy
-Indiana

And some top end JUCO talent

I don't believe we have lost anyone to P5 programs or really anyone who has dominated in G5. (Quiann going to Buffalo hurt)

This coaching staff has developed players and has creates an environment that P5 guys want to come be a part of. Great Job by CC

I am fully aware these guys will have to compete. I'm not a believer that P5 guarantees anything but I do think the more you have, the better the chances of a few of them panning out will be.

This team on paper going in to next year is getting scary good.

Steve your comments are spot on!

We lose guys to the portal but most of them transfer down with the exception of Quiann and of course, everybody's hero, Ben Bryant.

Jefferson Adam is really picking up a lot of attention lately. He visited Iowa State (although I don't see anywhere that they have officially offered him a scholarship) this past weekend and I saw a quote where he said something about them being his #1. Then this week Indiana offered him a scholarship and he is planning an official visit there.

Hopefully we are still in a good position to land him.

Lets say for the sake of discussion that "Jeff" signs somewhere else although I hope not. Hopefully we have some secondary targets in mind.
