Ty wants to try head coaching again and perhaps was uneasy about the situation in Denver. I would presume this is a pay cut, but it does provide some security and a chance to rehab his resume' after Morgan St. Good dude, I hope he puts down roots.

Thank his tenure at Morgan State was a disaster.

Steve, I do not. 5-18, however, is not going to get you many looks from the FBS, despite the program's less than storied history. Call it the "Creighton Syndrome".

I saw Ty Wheatley in a spring game at U-M. Local guy, he was far larger than the other backs, yet was so much faster. The only other player with that kind of physical gifts I have seen was Bo Jackson. He was "jaw dropping". His NFL career may have been unspectacular, but Ty lasted TEN years as an NFL running back, with his best occurring late in his career. He was not Zeke Elliott.

In Ann Arbor, our cable TV ops feature WSU games and I watch them frequently. I saw our transfer Karmi Macky not be very effective at WSU. I hope Ty will energize the program, and the kid from Inkster makes good. Just me thinking...

I watched, in person, Honward vs. Morgan State. Program was in a bad place.

I'm not sure of how his leaving happened but I can check if anyone is interested. I know people who are HBCU insiders.

I'm guessing that Ty saw Morgan State as a Rutgers or Vanderbilt mountain that was just too high to climb. The money in Denver sealed the deal.

I would be intrigued to find out I was wrong, however.

RE: Coaching Carousel Thread 2022
Based on what I have gathered
Ben Needham is the new Linebacker coach
And they are hiring a new D-Line Coach

Thank you. So are we hiring two DL coaches one for ends another for tackles or will one coach now do both?

Based on these interesting comments from Maxx, it looks like probably one D-Line coach.

I am usually well connected in the Eastern world. I didn't know Maxx was on Bussin with the Boys again. I will definitely have to listen. Thanks for the find.

I would also say an effective interview tool by Coach Creighton. He impresses me on so many levels!

No
There will be though
Not sure when
But I have talked to the guy and other coaches
I just forgot to tell y'all about him

If you want to know his history
I think he went from Kent State as a player straight to a D-Line Coaching job at Beloit College for a year
Then went back to Kent State as a Grad Assistant for 2 years
Finally he was at Pitt for 2 years as a grad assistant

Simplified version:
2017 - Kent State (Player)
2018 - Beloit College (D-Ends Coach)
2019 - Kent State (Grad Assistant)
2020 - Kent State (Grad Assistant)
2021 - Pittsburgh (Grad Assistant)
2022 - Pittsburgh (Grad Assistant)

Per the Scoop:

Eastern Michigan: Per source, defensive analyst Richard Hageman has resigned to pursue other opportunities. He has previous stops at Northern Illinois, Wyoming and Montana State and the Montana native recently appeared on the hit TV show Yellowstone.

Shaq Vann is on the Minnesota staff now too

Dear dansplaining,
Do you think PL Fleck hired Shaq Vann to get a leg up on defensing Eastern for their game with us?

You're gonna hire a low assistant coach so that your HEAVILY FAVORED Big Ten team gets "a leg up" for one game over a MAC team??? Uh sure, sounds logical.
