RE: Y'all May Not Like This
Both App and Georgia Southern pretty much removed all references to the SOCon in their transition years if I remember correctly. But they actually had a full transition year unlike everything else
Coastal didn't have a transition year for non football sports, so it wasn't a big issue.

I know people keep saying that CUSA schools have previously left before satisfying the required notice and without any penalty, but I haven’t really found any evidence of that. Admittedly, I haven’t researched it much.
Why even have a notice in your bylaws if you don’t intend to enforce it?

Rumor du jour though not from anyone I'd expect actually knows what they are talking about says JMU is playing 8 Sun Belt opponents but there will be some schools playing 9 including JMU and those playing 9 won't count JMU in the standings.
More reliably have heard JMU is trying to get the NCAA to waive year two of transition because they meet or at least can meet the minimum scholarship requirement thanks to the extra year of eligibility granted to 2020 players and expects to meet the year 2 scheduling requirements this year as well. Told their is some cautious optimism that NCAA may agree since it appears none of the others moving up are looking to take a similar path.

We didn't repaint the SoCon logo on the football field before that last season and scrubbed it off before the last game. Southern had a grss field at the time and can't remember what they did.
Besides football not having the SoCo patches, I think all the other sports were dependant on if the SoCon logo was actually part of the jerseys or not but overall I don't remember much of the SoCon logo being wiped out in that last year.
As much as App people wanted out of the SoCon, App was still eligible for SoCon championships in all sports besides football that last year and our wrestling program was still going to be a member, so it wasn't a nasty divorce at all.
The funny thing about the SoCon exodus is that App, GaSo and College of Charleston were all transparent in wanting to leave for more than a year and were seen as pariahs by other members. Then Davidson and Elon surprised everyone by leaving all of a sudden and burned their bridges far worse, especially Elon.

Why state in the bylaws that you’re an all-sports conference that sponsors football and then allow a member to drop football for 2 years without penalty?
I don’t know off the top of my head any schools that previously left early, but the 6 schools who left to form the AAC paid $6.15 million in exit fees combined upon their departures when per the by-laws, Memphis’ share alone should’ve been $6.63 million.
Now only after they’ve driven the conference off a cliff do they want to start playing hardball and enforcing rules.
I have no problem compensating the 5 remaining members in some fashion for leaving 6 months early, but it should be comparable to the deals other schools have gotten in the past adjusted for the amount of money currently flowing through the conference vs. then. At this point for us it should be, “Here’s about tree fiddy. Peace out.”

I get what you’re saying but those negotiations took time and concessions from all parties involved, I’m sure. As a fan, I want this done yesterday so I can get on with planning which away games to attend but it looks like it’s going to take as long as it takes.

I bought some AMC stock a few months ago. This seems similar. I don't recommend it.

I doubt you'd want that, Scott Hall for the most part was a drunkard while in Dub'C'Dub.

You’re right, but the concessions have been pretty one-sided in favor of departing schools for the conference’s entire existence. USM people know because we’ve been in it the entire time. I’m not sure Louisville even paid any exit fees. There was a lot of talk at the time about “future scheduling” in lieu of cash.
Dragging this out because of a 6-month difference is pretty ridiculous given the state of things.
