Sun Belt Stock watch 2017
We're doing this on our board, thought about bringing it over here
There are 10 Sun Belt football programs. You have the option to buy, sell, or hold on each program. What would you do?
For Me:
Buy: Troy, Georgia State, ULM
Hold: App, AState, USA, ULL, GS
Sell: TXST, CCU

I'll buy the dirt cheap TXST and CCU stock you're selling and sell you my sky high Troy stock I bought 2 years ago when it was in the bargain bin.

Do you guys understand how stocks work? Sell Georgia Southern right now?? You may not even cover the commission on that transaction.

Buy...ULL, USA, GS, GAST
Smart coaching changes bring new energy to the first 3 teams which are all talented and can succeed with the right coach while Georgia State will only get better from here.
Hold...StAte, CCU, TXST, ULM
Ark State has a lot of talent returning and ULM has a killer offense. TXST and CCU are figuring it out. If you have their stock you shouldn’t sell, and if you don’t have their stock it might be a good idea to wait before you buy.
Sell...App, Troy
Losing a lot. App is losing several key players and coaches. Troy is better off than App but I’m unsure if either will perform like they did this season. That’s why I would sell while the value is at its highest.

RE: Sun Belt Stock watch 2017
You buy Troy, Arkansas State and App State. All three are putting a lot of money into facilities, have shown they can win the conference and are in fertile enough recruiting areas with solid community support. Not to toot our own horn but if you are not buying a program that won at least a share of 5 of the last 7 titles and has Terry Mohajir pouring money into facilities... well, you should not be playing the market.
I am a hold on Ga. State, ULM and USA. All three need to address some infrastructure issues and I am still not convinced that Ga. State will maintain recruiting or build enough support in Atlanta but maybe they can. ULM will always recruit well enough to be fair due to location but the money just isn't there unless they strike gold with a coach. Maybe Viator is that guy. I am a hold on ULL but for different reasons. They have the recruiting base and community support and $ but Hudspeth seems to have burned the program down. The right hire will bring them back.
Texas State is a mystery to me. Great college town in one of the best recruiting states and a really nice stadium. The ingredients seem to be there. Ga. Southern has the right location and a lot of community support but probably needs a real breakout season to get the $ pump primed. The Eagles might have an identity issue as well with the history of their offense. CCU is just too young to say. The non-revenue sports seem to be much further along than football but given time you would think they can build a competitive football program as well.

right. i hope none of these people are in the money management business. the buy high, sell low model has never been very successful. I'm buying GS because they have no where to go but up and their high water mark is very high.

You buy GS because there is nowhere to go but up. Any mediocre coach is going to look like a wizard following Tyson Summers.

Honestly I think you have to sell Troy and App.
No way they maintain exactly where they are or improve with the player turnover (especially lost experience at QB) and in App's case coaching staff turnover without going down a bit.
Unless you hold to weather the storm and hope they tick higher down the road.

SELL: App St, ULL, Troy, Ga State
I'll BUY that CCU, GS, TXST, ULM all have more wins than they did last season. All 4 teams will make me money next season why schools like Ga State will be fortunate to achieve 7 wins again and win 5 road games. Can anyone honestly say TROY will have more than 11 wins next season? If you can't then you must SELL! Arkansas State has stayed consistent and 7 wins in 2018 should be maintained. 8 wins is very possible and a program I'm probably wrong about. App State had 9 wins in 17. Can't say after losing QB and all those defensive coaches that they'll achieve a 10 win season. ULL should finish around the 7 win mark so I can't buy them.

Nope, it's On Campus. Georgia State IS Downtown Atlanta. 40 buildings woven throughout the district's fabric. The stadium property is just a mile long extension from the epicenter. Were it not for a massive interchange and the state capitol building (the red marker) it would be contiguous. It's no less convenient than any other large urban campus. With the baseball stadium, convocation center/ Arena, additional classroom buildings, and dorms filling in the gaps, in 5 years it will be seamless between Downtown and Summerhill.

From what I’m seeing (hang me now GS fans) I don’t see much improvement at all from GS next year. Maybe 1 or 2 more wins

RE: Sun Belt Stock watch 2017
For Troy I expect no less than 9 wins next year and that’s with a QB turnover... let’s Be honest Silvers was nothing special and was a TERRIBLE mobile QB...2018 we will see a Mobile QB which could take our offense to the next level because we are still gonna be able to Run it with Henderson and we saw what talent Willis was in the Nola Bowl.
Defense we return most of what was already a top 20 defense
So you tell me, do you think Neal Brown who has won 10 and 11 games won’t be able to coach another 9+ win team with all the talent returning? If we have a better defense we would only need to score 20 points to beat most SBC teams as we did this past year. StAte was the only team to score the most points on our defense (25) in the regular season and that was the least amount by any team in the country.
