Thank you for that. I skimmed the article and wondered why it seemed that way.
Good news. The Jags must really like him since his 5 years have been riddled with injuries. Hopefully he can stay healthy this year.

Newest draft prediction posted today has Jimmy going in the 4th round to the Chicago Bears with the 126th pick.

Also not related to JMU but still interesting, the Titans are projected to pick WR Ashton Dullin from DII Malone with the 121 pick. Good to see that scouts will still find diamonds in the rough from lower divisions

The Chiefs just signed Keith Reaser, a former Orlando Apollo, making him the first NFL signee from the AAF. Hopefully Ankrah and Hyman get looks as well during the spring/summer.

It appears as though Ankrah may get a shot with the Redskins

The AAF was all worth it just to get Ankrah on the Redskins roster. They are typically like oil and water with JMU players for some reason...

I played golf with Bruce Allen right after last year's draft. I asked him if he had had anyone from JMU on his radar and he laughed off the question. I couldn't tell whether he didn't hear my question, didn't want to reveal any inside info (he was on the phone signing players to UDFA contracts throughout the round) or if he thought it was funny I was asking that question. But definitely oil & water straight from the top.

Bruce wins off the field.

Bruce Allen must have incriminating photos on somebody to keep retaining NFL jobs.

One step above him. It doesn't get any worse than Danny Boy at the top.

Allen just fits another chapter in Snyder's ineptitude.

*SIGH*

(pretty sure we are preparing to trade our 1st round pick for a long snapper)

FWIW, NFL releases the Preseason schedule this afternoon... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001...n-schedule

Looking forward to seeing Ankrah, JF'nM and the other Dukes fight for roster spots. Good luck to them.

(being a Skins fan, would especially love to see Ankrah make the team)

Only problem with this is J-MFn-M is going to get drafted by the Dolphins! But seriously, I hope Ankrah makes a team, and it was shocking that he didn't get more looks before the AAF. Every team needs more pass rushers.

RE: Pro Dukes
From the Redskins.com site,

“This could be the place where I was meant to be, and honestly my whole life I had to grind, and coming from a small school like JMU, we were overlooked and we have some great talent coming out of that school," Ankrah said. "I’ve always had to put that extra foot forward, and coming from that small school, having to prove yourself, it gives you more fuel to the fire to keep doing well. It means a lot and I’m just going to take it from here.”

C'mon Andrew! Don't perpetuate the "small school" talk. I know we are FCS and this is what he means, but with over 20k students, JMU is not small. Wish we could shake that term...

Love the signing though!!! 04-rock02-13-banana04-rock 04-cheers

Would the showing a guy like Ankrah had get him a training camp invite or UDFA contract? Has there been any talk like this?

Except for the occasional QB or kicker, it's very rare for a rookie that gets cut to get another camp invite, let alone make it onto a squad. Makes Johnny Football all the more infuriating- he's a f#@kup that doesn't deserve the talent and second chances he's been given.

I'm not sure we even see many CFL stars transition to the NFL like we used to?

According to ESPN, Ankrah has been the only guy without prior NFL experience to get an camp invite. Dude just needed a second shot since our "small school" didn't provide much visibility.

That's so stupid. Some FCS schools are bigger than FBS schools by number of students and size of campus.
