You are correct. I guess the real question then is whether Missouri St. and JMU are ready to join the Sun Belt.

Agreed, but as of today from a full time employee in their athletic dept, they are not even discussing it tomorrow and the plan is to wait. Could that change between now and June 1, absolutely but as of today the plan is to wait on the MAC

I have way better connections inside JMU. You are full if it.

It's been discussed. It will be discussed. Stop pimping and spreading misinformation in a hopeless attempt to somehow affect the upcoming change.

Don't be butthurt because I am friends with one of your athletic staff members...

For all he knows, you are making it up. Lets not get into "my source can beat up your source" arguments here please.

When was this authority granted? If it was recently, then that is very interesting.

Faculty at schools can be very strange creatures that can sometimes unintentionally undermine their own employer. (See Liberty Law Professor)

Heck, its everywhere. A couple of years ago, UCA's faculty actually voted in a faculty senate meeting to drop the Bears to D2. The Senate had no actual power over the issue, and they were generally laughed at...but they felt they needed to make their opinion known...so they did. And UCA got negative press for it, despite the fact there was no chance they would ever go back to D2.

And UMass faculty did so.

And if you go back, remember that the faculty at AState went to the Board of Trustees demanding football be dropped back when Col Klink was on the Board and cited the amount of money that would be saved and he countered by asking if they had factored in the million plus in contract penalties for failing to play contracted games, the impact of potentially needing to seek another league, the expectation of fans that any "savings" be expended to improve other sports. They gave up and sulked away.

Ah, we've been there. One of our professors even had a piece published in Slate (or HuffPo) claiming that sexual assaults on campus will increase with a move to FBS...I literally can't make this up.

I saw that but didn't pay any attention to what school it was.

Maybe Commissioner Benson will say something this weekend that gives hint of what is going on. He is supposed to be in Statesboro tomorrow and will be at our Spring game on Saturday and attend the baseball game late Saturday afternoon with our AD. I have no doubt either during the football game (maybe at half) or during the baseball game he will be interviewed by our radio people.

There are plenty of people making up their own facts about Liberty in which they look like idiots now. Then there are some Liberty people who happen to be campaigning that looked like idiots from the start. Every fan base has them.

If you think a messageboard poster has some sort of control over conference realignment then you are sorely mistaken. No need to panic.

EKU 21 15.56%

I am a mere spectator, but please refrain from using Mizz(threw up in m'mouth a little) St. when referring to Missouri State. MO state, MO St., MSU... Hell call us whatever you'd like... But we try very hard to to be associated with the Dark Lord of Missouri.

We're going to need a SBC team name guide after expansion is through. Mo State doesn't like it when you call them Mizzou St. Georgia Southern is GS, Georgia State is GSU. Texas St is TXST not TSU. Arkansas St is ASU, App State is AppSt. Then there's the whole Louisiana debate...

We are AState. Think of the helmet

Could it possibly be that Benson is leaving Ga. Southern after his visit here this weekend to go to another school for an announcement of a new member to the Sun Belt?

Yes we could have a Hall of Fame of "experts" who have "inside knowledge." NoDak and Swish from Lamar should be nominated.

No.

Any announcement will likely be in May.

You really think that JMU is telling you bud anything? Unless he/she sits on the BOV, you really don't know.

JMU is keeping donors who give tens of thousands/year in the dark. It is a blackout at JMU right now. You pal in the AD isn't an inside source.

I am inclined to agree that if we add this year it will be in May. I guess JMU if they join will not announce until the mid-late part of May. So another month of speculation. All I know is that our AD, T. Kleinlein has publicly said the Sun Belt has voted to expand and that it was a goal to have a 12th fb playing member by June 1.
