Absolutely. I thought there was a chance we'd get the "hot potato" treatment though everyone knows just about any team can have a really good night and win against a very tough opponent.
I'm thinking this indicates the pollsters have a lot of respect for the Cajun baseball team.

I think WKU has the hottest bats in the Conference right now. Well, at least they did this weekend.
WKU had 39 hits over the series against a pitching staff that was only giving up 6 hits a game entering the weekend.

Coach Robichaux stated today, we get nothing today for being ranked #1 or #2. It matters where you are at the end of the season. Fell in one poll to #2, remained #4 in another, moved up in the rest.

Collegiate baseball plays hot potato with everyone. You pretty much have to win out to stay #1...and that's basically impossible.

Actually, it's more of a disadvantage being ranked #1 or #2 at this point in the season because it definitely puts a big target on your back that everyone is gunning for.
I like the Baseball America ranking of 4th than being 1st. As long as you remain in the top 10 and go on a winning streak towards the end of the season in order to end up in the top 8 and host a Regional and possibly a Super Regional is what matters.
Understand your logic, but let's face it, we're not going to sneak up on anyone at this point so whether we're #1 or #4, it won't matter. Personally, I'd rather see us grab the #1 spot and hold it all the way through to a national title.

I guess my logic is that every team in the Country wants to knock off the #1 team. I think they have a little extra umf in their step when playing the top ranked team. It's something that goes in their record book. Just like this weekend, we will forever be in WKU's record book as the first #1 team they ever beat.
I know we wont sneak up on anybody, especially in Conference, since we are in first and the team to beat. It just means alot to a player and a team to beat the #1 ranked team.
My point was that you have this huge bullseye on you when you are the top ranked team in the Country. I mean how long did we last at #1, a week?. It was nice for the University and the fans, but it definitely puts alot of pressure on the players.
